There’s much more to your high school prom than renting a tux; buying that special dress and showing up for the dance.

Here’s a complete checklist that will help you make this year’s prom a memorable (and enjoyable) one for you; your date and your high school friends.

  • Don’t wait until the last minute to find that special pair of shoes that will match your dress. This slip happens all the time, so you don’t want to be part of the crowd that has to run to the shopping center the day of the prom looking for sizes and colors.
  • Make sure you order your corsage and boutonniere well in advance. Again, if you wait until the last minute, you might be frozen out as many florists are extremely busy during prom season, especially if your prom is near Mother’s Day.
  • Hair, manicure, pedicure are all important for the prom. Set appointments now!
  • Guys, order that tux today. As much of a pain as it might seem, a quick visit to your local tuxedo rental store for sizing is well worth it. Your tailor will get you properly fitted and will provide all the extras (cufflinks, buttons, shoes, etc.).
  • Transportation is extremely important. Are you driving dad’s fancy sports car or are you leaving the driving to the professionals and renting a limousine? If you’re planning on a limo, call ahead of time for more information and reservations. Call American Eagle Limousine at (703) 550-7200. Don’t delay!
  • If you can, make dinner reservations. Again, this is a big night! Other schools may be hosting their proms at the same time. You may also be competing for tables with other local events; Mother’s Day, etc. Don’t be shocked if you arrive at your restaurant only to find out there’s a long wait for a table. Plan ahead!
  • Make sure your mobile phone is charged the day of the event (and take your mobile charger with you). Everyone in your party should keep their cell phones charged AND everyone should share mobile numbers with parents (and vice-versa) in case of an emergency.

Planning ahead; paying attention to all the details AND making necessary reservations for transportation; dinner and personal care needs will make your high school prom less stressful; more fun and an memorable event!
