Now that we’re getting closer and closer to peak bloom dates, we thought it would be a good time to update you on the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

“The Nation’s Greatest Springtime Celebration” takes place March 20 through April 17, 2016.

Here’s the latest in Cherry Blossom Festival news and events:

– The National Park Service has predicted peak dates for the blossoming of the cherry trees around the Tidal Basin. According to the NPS, based on current bud development and expected temperatures, the trees will be at peak bloom starting around Friday, March 18 through Wednesday, March 23. Peak bloom is defined as the period when 70% of the blossoms on the Yoshino Cherry trees are open. Of course, peak season varies from year-to-year, depending on weather conditions. You can visit the 2016 Bloom Watch page at http://nationalcherryblossomfestival.org/about/bloom-watch/ for more details and updated information.

– Tickets are still available (but are going fast) for the Pink Tie Party fundraiser, scheduled for Friday, March 18 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. General admission is $225 per person with VIP admission at $300 per person. Details: http://www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org/tickets-selling-fast-pink-tie-party-fundraiser-presented-ana/
